IL PENSATORE MODERNO (The modern thinker)
The Modern Thinker is a work intended to show the viewer a simple fact that is before everyone's eyes: We live in a society governed by chaos, understood as the driving force behind our choices and actions and thus also the foundation of our thinking.
Endless, very distant and at the same time very close possibilities of being and therefore of existing. We live immersed in a whirlwind of constant information coming from the internet, media, social; examples and therefore possibilities. In this world, it is essential to understand what surrounds us and learn to seize opportunities, real possibilities to choose, held back only by our social conditioning. Possibilities that chain us to a complex world, free but constrained.
The evolution of the individual becomes the child of his own actions. Here, then, is the need to represent the modern thinker, a man, who, compared to the past, is no longer closed in on himself, but open to the influences of the natural and social spheres, represented by the two truncated Icosidodecahedrons, interconnected in no less than 30 points, which in a shell enclose the protagonist being in his tangle of chaos. Man is thus ready to cling to the thoughts, the red threads, with all his might, ready to sense and experience a new stimulus that is there, clutched in his own hands. Beneath a shiny, perfect, hard surface lies the feeling that characterizes the human being, the need to fit into the world's connections and to find one's place, for a brief moment of time, in the cycle of life.
The two truncated Icosidodecahedrons, the outermost, the natural world, and the innermost, the social world, respectively, are composed of aluminum tubes and Nylon joints and are polygons with all sides equal, perfect, light and changeable in their outward appearance. The wires, the thoughts, also made of anodized aluminum, maintain the same shape as the outer worlds but run through them, frantic and brilliant.
The man, at the center of it all, is sketched, simple and raw, demonstrating his centrality and at the same time his fragility in this narrative.
